Alastair Ross


Alastair Ross has worked with cereals, nutrition and analytical chemistry for the past 20 years and has published over 80 papers, mainly in the area of biomarkers of food intake, nutrition intervention studies and metabolomics, especially on the effects of wholegrain foods compared to refined grain foods. He has also chaired the Health Grain Forum working group on a wholegrain food definition, and recommended guidelines for the reporting of whole grains in observational and intervention studies. In his scientific career he has worked in Sweden, Switzerland and his native New Zealand, and has worked in industry, academia and the governmental sector. He is currently involved with the Whole Grain Initiative, and leads the metabolomics platform at AgResearch, a New Zealand government owned research institute.
